Our team at Prestwick has embarked on a voluntary continuous improvement project for the hangar, bringing significant enhancements and showcasing remarkable teamwork and ingenuity.
With a new maintenance line scheduled for launch this autumn, our base facility required upgraded workstations, project boards, storage units and racks. Instead of opting for expensive, custom-made solutions, our team decided to take a more cost-effective and hands-on approach.
The project included planning, design, and construction for the below:
- 10 x A frames
- 5 x Engineers Workstations
- Lobo Storage containers
- Lifter tool tidies
- Hangar Entrance Railing
- Green shift/yellow shift shop floor PPE Storage units
- A320 Safety A-frame
- Leading Edge panel storage
- Wing to body storage rack
The team purchased all necessary materials, including wood and metal, and took on the challenge of fabricating the new stations themselves. This decision not only saved the company a considerable amount of money but also allowed for a customised setup that perfectly fits our specific needs.
Over the past 10 months, the team has worked diligently, proving excellent skills and collaboration. The results are professional-grade workstations, project boards, and racks that enhance our operational efficiency and readiness for the new maintenance line.
The quality of the work is outstanding, reflecting the team’s dedication and craftsmanship. This project is a testament to what can be achieved when a team comes together with a common goal and a willingness to innovate and problem-solve.
The team including (Kevin Scott, Jamie McCallum, John Rennie, and Robbie Swift) should be incredibly proud of their accomplishments, which have not only enhanced our facilities but also demonstrated our capability to undertake significant projects in-house.
Well done to all the team involved.
